Welcome to my Web Site

Hi! I’m Christine Nathan born in Christchurch New Zealand. I
have 2 sons; Joshua, living in Sydney and Eli in Christchurch!

I became a Christian in 1980 and was aware of a strong call to
mission work in Africa for the next 10 years! But, as I was a
single mother with two young lads, mission’s organisations and my
own church were not keen for me to head for Africa. In 1990, I
put my house up for sale and informed friends and family I was off
to South Africa where I had been accepted by Youth With A
Mission Y.W.A.M. Having never been outside NZ before this was
a huge step of faith – I was now 37. To make it more “challenging”
the Embassy had denied my study and entry visas to RSA. But, I
got on a plane with Joshua aged 16 and Eli aged 10 declaring –
“I’m off to Africa and the plane will have to put us down
somewhere” We spent 10 days in Sydney, Australia where I tried
for the visas again and was refused. As I prayed, I felt directed to re-fax a document and the next day I had a call to say they had never received it before and now I could have the visas to enter RSA! And thus began a 15 year adventure that continues to this day.

For the next 15 years 1991-2005 I have:

  • Spent 3 years training in YWAM in discipleship and counseling
  • Ran a sewing group for a year in a squatter camp for Xhosa
        women
  • Was school counselor at a coloured High School in an
        impoverished area for 2 years
  • Worked with social workers, police and child abuse units
  • Helped pioneer a missions base in Madagascar and
        build up local churches there
  • Led outreach teams to Madagascar for 6 years
  • Supported a ministry to women in prison with their babies and toddlers – we took clothes and
        medicine yearly
  • Worcester: 2000 --- 2005

  • Studied Biblical Community Development with over 60
        missionaries
  • Staffed International Community Development School in 2001
  • Led a Community Development school in 2002 with
missionaries from UK, RSA, Mali, Brazil, Australia and Nigeria
  • Helped pioneer a YWAM Base in Worcester
  • Was part of the leadership team there for 3 years
  • Pastored in Xhosa Township of Zweletemba
  • Pioneered & ran a Skills Development centre for underprivileged
  • For the past 5 years I have been:

  • Teaching community development principles, world view and
Restoration on discipleship schools in Worcester
  • Held seminars for Pastors, NGO’s, Government & community
workers etc. in Congo, Egypt, Madagascar, Nigeria, RSA,
Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe, England, Tonga & New Zealand..
  • For 5 years I assisted Pastors Arthur & Linda Moses – (Xhosa people) with their church – Living Waters Community Church in Zweletemba (near Worcester). This was enormously satisfying as well as very challenging as the township has high unemployment, poverty, abuse, HIV/AIDS orphans and due to witchcraft & ancestral worship there has been much division, jealously and distrust of our “on fire”, “born-again” church. We have been persecuted as we took a stand against abuse of young girls (had to face a panel of men in the township court!) and were accused of kidnapping a girl! But, God sustained us, renewed our strength and courage again & again and showed us His intentions for this isolated, broken community.
